We hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! Our Halloween was busy and was a lot of fun! We will definitely remember it forever! This year the girls went as a lion and lion tamer. Can you believe I started making Halloween costumes in mid September! I knew I had to start early, because I knew I would be busy with other stuff and I only get to sew at night when the girls go to bed. When I asked Julia what she wanted to be for Halloween this year she said "I want to be a lion." I know it's kind of an odd costume to want for a little girl, but Julia loves animals and her favorite animal are lions. When I asked Evie what she wanted to be for Halloween she kept changing her mind, so I made the final decision and thought a lion tamer would be perfect.
For Evie's costume the only thing I made was the jacket, everything else I bought. I first started on Evie's lion tamer jacket. I made a pattern, then a muslin sample, then I fit it on her, and adjusted the pattern and finally made the jacket. Let me tell you it's not easy fitting little ones. They can't stand still, but overall I'm very happy with how it turned out. I did make a mistake and made the collar a little big, but I'm actually happy I did, because the gold lame trim was itchy for her, but since the collar was a little big it stood away from her neck so it ended up working out. For Julia's costume I used a vintage Halloween cat pattern for the body and for the lion mane I used A Beautiful Mess lion hoodie tutorial. I didn't know how I was going to make the mane, so I'm really happy they shared their idea on their blog! I think the mane came out beautiful! Julia felt like a lion in her costume. I love her paws in all of these pictures, and Evie was the best lion tamer!
